I grew up in South-West Western Australia, and at 17 moved to Northern Queensland to work on a cattle station. During the wet season I worked as a trekking guide in the Snowy Mountains NSW on 3 & 5 day treks. I followed this seasonal lifestyle for a few years, with some odd jobs thrown in along the way including industrial sewing, general farming and a brief stint in mining in WA. I was in Canada for 18 months, again working with horses; guiding and cooking on mountain pack trips in BC and ranching in Southern Saskatchewan. I came back to Australia in 2018 and guided beach rides in Byron Bay, and then spent the last three years living at my family property in Western Victoria, where I based myself whilst studying, and started competing in stockman’s challenges on my Kosciuszko Brumby Ned Kelly.
I qualified for my Cert IV and completed my EDAA exams in August 2022, and moved to Canberra, and then later Bungendore.
On weekends my brumby and I compete in local competitions of any discipline; from showjumping, to sporting, obstacles, team sorting and everything in between!
